平日常见的,极易生长的植物,无论在山上、树丛、花园或绿化带都能够见到这种植物。它的其中一个名字是“姑婆芋”。原产于东南亚与澳洲原始森林,多见于低海拔地区。相传因其具有毒性,所以名字带有“姑婆”。

姑婆:父辈的女性长辈尊称。同时是含有贬义的,对未婚年长女性的、于父权宗族制度处于边缘的、具有威胁性的、不合群的年长女性的称呼。在珠三角亦是对自梳女的其中一中称呼。自梳女集聚的房屋,被称为“姑婆屋”。
